Position Vacant - Josh Lewsey Rugby Academy Project Coordinator

The Josh Lewsey Rugby Academy is about to begin for a second year and this time around, Millwall RFC are heavily involved. Our Youth Chair, Matt Shorrock, sits on the steering committee of the Academy along with representatives from Lehman Bros, the East London Business Alliance and Josh Lewsey himself.

Additionally, Millwall Lions Youth Coaches Scott Vinnicome and Chris Davis will be involved in delivering the coaching of the academy to the participating local schools.

With greater school participation and a clear focus on ensuring kids from the academy transition through to Millwall RFC, the academy is now looking to recruit a part-time project co-ordinator to manage the day-to-day delivery of the rugby academy, including coaching 150 9-11 year olds from 5 schools in the East London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Coaching is delivered from Mon-Fri (14:00 -15:00 or 15:30 – 16:30) for a 10 week period with each school receiving one session per week.

The Academy culminates in a tournament at Millwall RFC with all of the children being able to attend the Lehman Brothers Varsity Match at Twickenham stadium in December and some may be able to play on the field that day.

From January- April 2009, a number of the children will continue to play rugby at Millwall RFC on the weekends.

This is a paid position on an hourly rate so applications and a relevant CV is necessary. Ideal candidates will be pro-active and very well organised. A passion for rugby is prefered and no actual coaching experience is necessary.

Update: 22nd June 2008

Updated Website!

It gives me great pleasure to present to you an updated Millwall Lions website for season 2008/09. If you have any suggestions or requests for things to be included on the site as the season approaches and once matches begin, please feel free to email Matt Shorrock on youthchair@millwallrugby.com

Help Needed!

We need volunteers, especially parents of our youth players to help prepare food in our new club house so children can share a meal with their opposition after the match.

Volunteers to drive the mini-van for away matches are also required. If you can help with either of these tasks, please email Leigh on youth@millwallrugby.com
